Angler Spotlight - Jason Brenic
|
We are proud to recognize one of our up and coming young guns named Jason Brenic. Jason has been addicted to fishing since the day he was old enough to hold a rod in his hand. Jason calls home as he says “The Great State of Wisconsin”; we won’t debate his quote today. Jason’s story is very similar to many of our young anglers; he has a strong background and passion for the outdoors, and truly loves competitive bass fishing. We want to thank and recognize Jason for his service; as Jason is a proud member of the Unites States Army. As a Senior Human Resource Specialist Jason is providing invaluable knowledge to the battle field, and ultimately guaranteeing us all a safe tomorrow. Jason stormed onto the scene in Division 60 in his first year of competitive fishing. As a co-angler with limited experience he turned to our incredible members for guidance and help. Help they did as he amassed a few top tens coming close to a check a few times. Not deterred one bit Jason entered into our 2010 Division Championship prepared and ready. With a strong showing at the championship ultimately finishing in third Jason was thrust into the spot light. No longer a dark horse, but an accomplished angler with some hardware for the shelves. Our boaters are a rare group as they seem to go out of their way to foster and develop co-anglers. Case in point, Luis Sevilla “L.A.” joined us as a green clueless non-boater. L.A. though was a sponge, and clearly had big plans in this sport; he spent his time as a co-angler, became a boater, and never looked back. L.A. launched his pro career this year, and we are confident that he will do well. Like L.A. Jason has big plans he hopes to one day make it as a professional angler on the FLW tour. Jason credits his interest in tournament fishing to a tournament hosted and run by our good friend Cliff Brown owner of Texas Boat World. Jason was invited to fish in the “Fishing For Freedom Tournament” after returning from Iraq. He was partnered with Brent Homan, and later introduced to Cody Roberson, members of the Army Bass Anglers who not only encouraged him, but invited him to join their Coalition program. Other anglers who deserve mention are Ben Gepford who introduced Jason to Division 60. His mentor Steve Higley, and a few boaters L.A. Sevilla, Danny Nelson, and Gary Smouse. Jason and his wife Victoria of 3 years have 2 beautiful daughters, Andreona and Adrianne ages 6 and 3. With nothing but a bright future and a life full of potential we would like to thank Jason for fishing with us, and wish nothing but the best for him and his awesome family.
